WHEN YOU LISTEN TO A WITNESS, YOU BECOME A WITNESS

March of the Living Exhibit Opening at the United Nations
Tuesday, 28 January 2014

Since 1988, hundreds of thousands of young people have joined the March of the Living from Auschwitz-Birkenau. They march in memory of six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and all other victims of Nazi genocide and against prejudice, intolerance and hate. During the March of the Living and on similar trips, the students visit additional locations of Nazi German persecution as well as once-thriving sites of Jewish life and culture. A critical element in the experience is the participation of Holocaust Survivors, who transmit their stories to the students - each a story of life and love interrupted, of irreparable loss - in the very places their histories unfolded.
"When you Listen to a Witness, You Become a Witness", includes powerfully moving images and reflections in verse, gleaned from 25 years of March of the Living. The exhibit documents the stories of the aging survivors and their young students who, hand in hand, embark on this life-changing journey and return profoundly transformed.

Matt Galloway's Metro Morning [CBC] interviews Eli Rubenstein about the new exhibit,
"When You Listen to a Witness, You Become a Witness", which recently opened at the United Nations.
